The general objectives of the Euromed Innovation and Technology programme are the implementation of a framework to facilitate the development of innovating and quality products by MEDA enterprises, to develop a co-operation among operators in Innovation and Technology transfer between EU and MEDA region and across MEDA actors. The specific objectives are to reinforce technical centers and innovation centers (ICT) in MEDA partner countries and to create a network of MEDA CTI with UE innovation technical centers.

7. Contract description

The overall objective of the Euromed Innovation and Technology programme is the implementation of a framework to facilitate the development and marketing of innovating and quality products by MEDA businesses (SMEs), able to compete with imported goods and to conquer export markets.         
The programme beneficiaries are MEDA National Authorities and public decision-making bodies, intermediary bodies supporting businesses in the fields of Innovation and Technology, and centres of excellence working in network with innovative client companies in specific industrial sectors and in the framework of regional or sub-regional partnerships.

The project will be composed of two strands: (i) analysis of innovation mechanisms already set up within the various industrial sectors in order to facilitate comparative analyses and exchanges of information among MEDA countries about new mechanisms to be developed or created in a regional and/or sub-regional perspective; (ii) implementation of industrial upgrading projects within Mediterranean centres of excellence (beneficiaries to be identified by the Programme Steering Committee).
